📅 July 07, 2024

NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila - The Philippine Navy (PN) held its 2nd Quarter Command Conference CY2024 on Monday, June 3 with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Commander-in-Chief, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., joining the meeting of Navy key leaders at their headquarters in Roxas Blvd., Manila.

The primary objective of the Command Conference was to apprise the Commander-in-Chief on the Philippine Navy’s strategic role, as part of the AFP joint force, in the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC). This deliberate initiative is vital for enhancing the maritime security and defensive posture of the Philippines, given its extensive archipelagic geography.

Navy Chief, Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr. outlined the current status and future plans of the PN, and emphasized the importance of modernization and capability enhancement as vital components of total archipelagic defense that will enable the fulfillment of the Navy’s crucial role in securing the state and enhancing maritime cooperation toward regional peace and stability.

“The Philippine Navy remains steadfast in its duty to defend our nation's interests, safeguard our waters, and protect our people. While we face formidable challenges, our commitment to accomplishing the mission remains unwavering. The Philippine Navy will continue to fight until our nation realizes genuine freedom and security in our waters. As you have said, Sir, "Filipinos do not yield," the Navy Chief stated.

The conference, which was also attended by Army Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, and Air Force Chief, Lt. Gen. Stephen Parreño, likewise provided a platform for other major services to discuss collaborative efforts and integrated defense strategies.

President Marcos Jr. expressed his continued support to the ongoing efforts of the Philippine Navy and other branches of the AFP. He highlighted the critical role of the navy in maintaining national security and underscored the need for continuous improvement of defense capabilities to address evolving security challenges.

Joining the President in this momentous conference were senior defense and military officials headlined by Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr., AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., several high-ranking officials, and select members of the Executive Branch.

This year’s 2nd Quarter Command Conference of the Navy underscores the importance of strategic planning and leadership engagement at the highest level toward ensuring that the nation's defense strategies are aligned, robust, and responsive to the needs of the country.
