French Ambassador pays courtesy call to PH Navy Chief, discusses bilateral cooperation

NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila – The Philippine Navy welcomed French Ambassador to the Philippines, Marie Fontanel, during her courtesy call to Rear Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy, on January 14, 2025, at the Navy Headquarters.

Ambassador Fontanel congratulated Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN on his recent appointment and discussed upcoming cooperation initiatives including the deployment of the “CLEMENCEAU 25” French Carrier Strike Group in the Indo-Pacific, and France’s involvement in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.

“We are looking forward to working with you and are very excited to see all the capabilities,” said Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN as he expressed enthusiasm on the French Navy’s carrier strike group deployment and France’s contributions to AFP modernization.

Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN also affirmed the Philippine Navy’s commitment to strengthening ties with France, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in ensuring maritime security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
