NAVAL FORCES WEST WELCOMES NEW COMMANDER

Headquarters Naval Forces West, Puerto Princesa City – Naval Forces West (NFW) installed its new Commander in a Change of Command Ceremony presided by the Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy, Rear Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta PN on January 06, 2025, at Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan 

Rear Admiral Alan M Javier Philippine Navy formally relinquished his duties and responsibilities over Naval Forces West to Commodore Vincent J Sibala Philippine Navy after steering the Command for two (2) years and eight (8) months. RAdm Javier PN assumes as the new Chief of Naval Staff, Philippine Navy.

Meanwhile, Commo Sibala PN, the Commander of Littoral Combat Force, Philippine Fleet, assumes his post as the 40th Commander of the NFW, the home of the "Defenders of the Western Frontier".

During his speech, the just-relieved Commander, RAdm Javier PN thanked the Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resource for the achievements during his stint as Commander, NFW. He also said that he has utmost confidence in passing the Command to Commodore Sibala in the continued success of the Naval Forces West.

Further, Commodore Sibala PN stated that he is thankful for the trust given to him to Command the NFW. He also  said that, “We owe the sweet smell of freedom in the WPS to our soldiers in the occupied islands, with that, I would like to assure the Flag Officer in Command, PN and the Commander, Western Command, that all efforts will focus towards maintaining that sweet smell of freedom. 

In addition, "we must innovate to maintain our presence in these disputed waters even with limited resources. But, most importantly, our actions must always be valid, disciplined, professional and observes the highest standard of value. As this value reflects our nations determination to keep the peace and stability.”

Lastly, in his speech, Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN said to the newly appointed Commander, Commodore Sibala, ”I am confident that you will continue to lead with integrity, and that NAVFORWEST will continue to thrive and meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving maritime security environment. And, I am certain you will uphold and advance the Navy’s mission with professionalism and excellence.”
