NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila – The Philippine Navy officially welcomed its newly assumed Vice Commander, Brigadier General Edwin E Amadar PN(M), during an Assumption Ceremony, presided over by Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy on January 31, 2025, at the Navy Headquarters in Manila.
“To BGen. Edwin E Amadar, congratulations on your new designation. I place my complete trust and confidence in you as the new Vice Commander. This is not just because you are a mistah, but because I am confident in your ability to deliver, given your unwavering dedication to your craft, your credibility, and your distinguished service reputation,” said Vice Admiral Ezpeleta as he officially relinquished his post as Acting Vice Commander.
BGen. Amadar, a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991, previously served as Commander of the Fleet-Marine Ready Force before assuming the role as the 58th Vice Commander of the Philippine Navy.
“Stepping into the Vice Commander position is both a privilege and an honor. As the alter ego of the Flag Officer In Command, I will complement his vision and initiatives, ensuring the Navy remains a cohesive, mission-driven team,” said BGen. Amadar, emphasizing the responsibility of his new role.
The Vice Commander plays a key role in supporting the Flag Officer In Command in overseeing the operational readiness and strategic direction of the Philippine Navy. As second-in-command, the Vice Commander coordinates Navy units, aids in decision-making, and ensures the protection of the nation’s maritime interests.
