📅 September 06, 2024

NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila—The Philippine Navy, represented by Naval Reserve Command Deputy Commander, Commo. Lemuel Espartinez welcomed the delegates of the Italian Carrier Strike Group led by Rear Adm. Giancarlo Ciappina, the Commander, Fleet Air Arm, Italian Navy, on September 5 at the Navy Headquarters.

“Let me thank you for the great hospitality that your Navy has shown to us and the friendship. It is a privilege to be here,” expressed Rear Adm. Ciappina.

The Italian aircraft carrier and frigate, ITS Cavour and ITS Alpino, arrived in Manila for a Goodwill Visit on September 2 and are on a mission to showcase Italian culture, traditions, technology, and research through best practice sharing with the Philippine Navy.

“It is always a pleasure for the Philippine Navy to host other like-minded navies and other like-minded Armed Forces who are here for a visit. We look forward to your visits again and our future cooperation with the Italian Navy,” said Commo. Espartinez as he expressed the PN’s gratitude.

Through the visit of the Italian Navy, the Philippine Navy reaffirms its role as a modern and multi-capable force that is ready to collaborate with international partners to safeguard our maritime interests.
