The Philippine Navy recently held a shakedown ceremony to honor the promotion of 71 new Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) at Naval Station Jose Francisco, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. To emphasize the great importance of the senior enlisted corps, the activity was graced by the PN Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr.
In his address, Vice Adm. Adaci highlighted that the newly promoted Chief Petty Officers represent the backbone of the Navy. He described them as the primary and most visible leaders among the PN’s enlisted personnel, serving as a vital link between the enlisted ranks and higher command.
The Navy Chief also underscored the importance of the CPOs' roles, stating, "You are highly valued and respected by the outstanding men and women of our non-commissioned officer and petty officer ranks. In return, you must uphold the moral obligation to care for and ensure the success of our junior enlisted personnel as you lead."
As the Philippine Navy continues to evolve and adapt to modern challenges, the leadership of Chief Petty Officers will be instrumental in fostering a strong, resilient, and effective force. Their dedication to mentoring junior personnel will ensure that the PN remains prepared to meet the demands of its mission.
