NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila— The Philippine Navy, headed by the Flag Officer in Command, Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr., welcomed General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence of Viet Nam, and his delegation during their visit to the Navy Headquarters on August 30.
"As close neighbors and partners in ASEAN, the Philippines and Viet Nam share a rich history of collaboration and cultural affinity grounded in a mutual commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity. We are indeed grateful for your visit today because it shows proof of the enduring friendship and cooperation between our nations," expressed Vice Adm. Adaci Jr. as he highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two ASEAN neighbors.
Coming on the heels of a successful official visit by the Philippine Navy to Hai Phong and Hanoi, as well as other recent successful initiatives such as the 7th Philippines-Vietnam Personnel Exchange at Southwest Cay and Vietnam's support during the 11th ASEAN Navy Young Officers’ Interaction (ANYOI) in Subic, Gen. Giang's visit further solidified the strong ties between the two nations' navies.
The PN also expressed its anticipation of Vietnam's hosting of the upcoming 10th Philippine Navy-Viet Nam People’s Navy Staff-to-Staff Talks in October, which aims to enhance cooperation in intelligence sharing, joint training, and other strategic areas.
"On behalf of the Philippine Navy, rest assured we will remain committed to pursuing closer ties with Viet Nam as we navigate the evolving security landscape, united in our shared vision for a secure, stable, and prosperous region," said Vice Adm. Adaci Jr.
