NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila—The Philippine Navy held a Joint Change of Command Ceremony welcoming Rear Adm. Joe Anthony Orbe as the new Commander of the Philippine Fleet and Commo. Juario Marayag as the new Commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NSSC), presided over by Flag Officer In Command, Rear Adm. Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta at the Navy Headquarters on November 27.
“I have full confidence that the Fleet will remain a reliable guardian of our nation’s waters under your command,” said Rear Adm. Ezpeleta as he expressed confidence in Rear Adm. Orbe, who has commanded various Philippine Navy vessels and previously served as Commander of the Naval Education, Training, and Doctrine Command, Naval Forces Southern Luzon, and the Offshore Combat Force.
"I trust that your expertise and leadership will guide NSSC in sustaining innovation and technical excellence," added Rear Adm. Ezpeleta, addressing Commo. Marayag, who spearheaded modernization projects that enhanced the Navy’s aviation and anti-submarine warfare capabilities and who formerly served as the Deputy Commander of the Philippine Fleet, the Deputy Commander for Fleet Operations of the Fleet-Marine Ready Force, and the Commander of the Naval Air Wing.
The Philippine Fleet remains the core of the Navy’s operational strength, safeguarding sovereignty and vital sea lanes, while the NSSC ensures the Navy’s ships and systems are reliable and mission-ready through engineering excellence and innovation.
