NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila - The Philippine Navy (PN) held its command conference for the first quarter of 2024 on February 22 and 23 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan — the home city of its naval operating force that secures the maritime domain of the country’s western frontier.
Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr., presided over the conference attended by all PN unit commanders and headquarters staff.
The conference aimed to reassess PN strategies concerning the AFP's External Defense Operations and the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC). This activity also synchronized all the current efforts and initiatives of the Navy. The transformation of the Philippine Navy into a modern, multi-capable naval force dedicated to safeguarding the nation's maritime defense and development remains to be the overarching goal.
The event likewise featured the PN Annual General Inspection 2023 awarding for top-performing Quality Management System units, and recognition of the best units and offices in implementing the Sail Plan — the PN’s strategic roadmap.
A tour of key external defense installations were also conducted at Naval Station Carlito Cunanan, Naval Detachment Oyster Bay, and at the 3rd Marine Brigade headquarters to inspect facilities critical to maritime security, and to personally check on the morale and welfare of the troops stationed at the PN’s defense and security efforts in the country’s western frontlines.
Moreover, the PN leaders, along with multisectoral stakeholders visited Pag-asa Island and other naval detachments in the Kalayaan Island Group to aid in ongoing and future Navy projects, deliver necessary equipment and supplies, and foster partnerships with key sectors and stakeholders that benefits the troops and the local residents.
These endeavors demonstrate the Navy’s intensified efforts in external defense operations toward upholding territorial integrity and the protection of our maritime interests.
