NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila — Taking a tangible step toward developing the Concept of Naval Support to the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC), the Philippine Navy (PN) hosted a symposium in Manila on April 16.
Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr., initiated this symposium in response to the thrust of the Secretary of National Defense to operationalize the CADC.
Along with the efforts of operationalizing the CADC, the PN organized the forum to bring in valuable insights from renowned maritime security experts in the Philippines such as Prof. Jay Batongbacal, Director Jesse Pascasio, retired Navy Rear Adm. Rommel Jude Ong, Atty. Neil Silva, Commo. Roy Vincent Trinidad, and Col. Francisco Domingo Fernandez.
Discussed during the symposium were matters pertaining to capability development for external defense operations, strategic basing, force restructuring, international defense and security cooperation, and the development of operating concepts.
Through this symposium, the PN gained valuable insights about developing and sustaining naval operations in support of the CADC.
It further demonstrates the PN’s full support to the Department of National Defense in developing the military’s capability to protect and secure the Philippine archipelago as well as its EEZ to ensure that the current and future generations of Filipinos shall enjoy the bounties of natural resources that are within our domain and are rightfully ours.
