NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila – The Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr. lauded the Philippine Navy (PN) for its efforts and transformation into a modern and multi-capable force through the years during its 126th Anniversary Celebration on May 24 at its Headquarters in Manila.

"I am very proud to stand here before you, that almost all our countrymen are united behind our efforts despite the challenges and misinformation. [They are] proud of our country, proud of our Armed Forces. From these, I am sure you will not waver and you will not fail your countrymen," Sec. Tedoro Jr. expressed.

The Defense Secretary also emphasized that the evolution of the PN is not solely about enhancing naval power but also integrating it as a component of joint defense and military capability to create a strong deterrent force that is ready to protect the country's sovereign rights and territorial integrity.

Aiming to gain a total defense posture, Sec. Teodoro Jr. shared the national leadership's plan to continue conducting maritime cooperative activities and interoperability exercises while also reminding the troops of their important role in creating a stable and progressive country.

"The mission of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has become even more crucial in our increasingly volatile environment. We will continue to strive for excellence, demanding more from each member of the AFP to ensure we fulfill our obligations to future generations," Sec. Teodoro Jr. added.
